About the Virtual Audio-Video Archive

The VAVA is a collecion of royalty-free audio and video files for teachers to use in their own creative exercises. We have also developed a small number of sample exercises that utilize material from the VAVA. Currently we offer exercises in Polish and Norwegian. The LCTL Project encourages teachers of all LCTLs to cooperate in developing new VAVA exercises using audio or video materials. Please contact us with comments and contributions.

Individual exercises might be very simple listening practice, or they might be more complex, integrating sounds, video clips into reading, writing, speaking and listening activities for students.

Languages...

The VAVA currently contains audio for the following languages:

• Arabic (Tunisa)
• Chinese (Mainland and Taiwan)
• Hebrew
• Norwegian
• Polish

There are no video files at this time. If you have video or audio files that you wish to add to the VAVA, please submit them to the LCTL project.

Organization of the VAVA

Audio and video files are grouped by language and are organized into a grid containing:

Preview / Download	Vocabulary       a list of items heard and/or seen in the clip.	Topics Suggested topics that may be useful when planning lessons.	Grammar Points Possible grammar points that could be covered using the audio/video file.
	To preview the clip, click 'PLAY'. To download the file, right-click (Win) or control-click (Mac) on 'DOWNLOAD' choose Save link as...

File formats...

In our grids, we offer the audio files in RealAudio format. If you do not have the RealPlayer installed on your computer, you can download a copy from the Real website. Look for the free RealPlayer.
